Accomodation
Some PhD students will be admitted, through a selection, to the College of S.Chiara. Accommodation (to be paid by students) in Siena can be found in private flats or similar, and is rather expensive. A single room in the centre of the city costs around 300-400 Euro per month.
For short stays, and depending on availability, students might consider to book a room at one of the Residenze Universitarie. The Residenza in Via Mattioli is next door to the Faculty of Political Sciences, but also the other ones are not far. You can check distances and maps here.
