About the Phd Program
PhD in Political Science – Comparative and European Politics
Goals
The aim of the PhD programme is to provide professional training in Political Science, with a special emphasis on Comparative Politics and European Politics. The programme offers advanced training to political scientists by providing them with the appropriate theoretical and methodological techniques for the analysis of contemporary political systems. Our objective is that scholars with this preparation will be able to operate across national, European and international systems, and to focus on polities, politics and policies.
The PhD programme is open to graduate students from various disciplines. It welcomes students aiming for an academic career. It also encourages the participation of students who are interested in non-academic professional careers in Italy as well as abroad. To foster international participation, the program is taught entirely in English.
Organisation
The PhD programme is organised under the aegis of the University of Siena. The administrative base is at the University of Siena. Seminars and courses are held in Siena. The Department of Historical, Legal, Political and Social Sciences and the Centre for the Study of Political Change provide logistical and organisational support.
